About us

We are Balázs Botos and Hajni Harsányi, the founders of Botoshka, a Budapest-based design brand creating porcelain jewelry, cups, vases, figurines, and decorative objects.

What started as Balázs Botos Design has gradually grown into a family brand.

For some time now, we have been working together on the design process, so after the birth of our son, we felt that the brand itself could use a fresh start too. We were looking for a more essential, personal name, and that is how we found Botoshka – a name that represents our shared work and the adventures we are on together.

We created the brand around our shared love of porcelain and design. We make objects where minimalism, playfulness, and small details come together.

How it started

For Balázs, ceramics was a discovery. He fell in love with the material during his studies, and it has remained an important part of his work ever since.

Before we started designing objects together, Hajni worked in 3D design and visualization. Today, we combine our different backgrounds and experiences to create objects that are aesthetic and functional, while always hiding something a little unexpected.

Our approach

We like the idea that an object can seem simple at first, but reveal more details the longer you look at it or use it.

This small “twist” is an important part of what we do. We want our objects to feel familiar and easy to love, while still leaving something to discover.

Our visual language is defined by rounded, happy forms, clean lines, and a spirit of experimentation. We are often inspired by the simplicity and clarity of Nordic design, while adding our own playful and human touch.

Working with porcelain

We mainly work with slip-cast porcelain. This technique allows us to produce our designs in small series while keeping the process hands-on.

Small variations, marks, brushstrokes, and other details are all part of what gives each piece its own character.

In our more experimental work, we explore the contrast between smooth, refined surfaces and rougher, more organic textures. We enjoy discovering how different materials, surfaces, and ideas can come together in a single object.

What we want to make

Ultimately, we want to create ceramics that we would love to have around us ourselves – objects that are beautiful, useful, a little playful, and perhaps make you smile or look twice.
